Reed's Rainbow Garden

We've been working on colors at our house lately. At 2 years and 3 months, Reed has them down pretty well, but we're always looking for ways to integrate learning with fun activities. We took Reed to Home Depot where he got to pick out one flower representing each color of the rainbow. Then we zoomed out of there in his race car(t) and headed home to plant them.

He was such a good helper bringing Dad one plant at a time. While they planted, we talked about different colors and each step in the process from pouring dirt to digging holes and setting the flowers in the pot. We told him about how he gets to take care of them now and keep them watered. (Lord knows mom shouldn't have that responsibility. #blackthumb)

We keep the plant on our back porch in the sun and remind him to water his flowers. This was such a fun little project to work on with him! If we were really on top of things, we would have thought of this much sooner and planted seeds in the dirt so he could really watch his plants grow. We'll save that for next spring, for now we'll just focus on not killing these ones!
